A leading light of the Oxford Movement which was seeking to move the Church of England in a Catholic direction, Newman left his considerable prospects, and many friends, behind when he converted to Catholicism in 1845 at a time when there was still widespread prejudice against Catholics in Britain. There will be events throughout the year which I very much hope the Oratory family will attend to help us celebrate this special milestone.Unfortunately we are unable to currently offer visits to the school during the Covid-19 Lockdown.However, in the meantime we are able to arrange for you to meet the Head Master via a Conference Call.The Oratory is a very special place where each pupil is known, valued and stretched as an individual.
