The Prelude, Wordsworth's great autobiographical poem, is crucial to our understanding of his life and poetry. When he could, he continued to write sonnets and short poems, but especially during the winters, unable to write, and worrying about Dora's and Dorothy's health, he could get very gloomy indeed.
