I put the car into 4 wheel drive, no issue there, then after we were done on the dirt road I tried to put it back into 2wd. When i purchased it a year ago I had no problem engaging into 4WD moving or stopped.

?The DENSO labeled component is most likely the SOFT controller if it is located left of the radio, it sends the motor control voltage to the axle actuator to operate the motor.
The light on the dash flashes but the rear actuator engages and enables the drive shaft to the front housing BUT the 2nd actuator mounted on the housing does nothing. Some people are just butchers when the take stuff apart....RIP TEAR PULL BREAK???????? So if something breaks you may be out of luck. All vacuum lines are working.
2000 Isuzu hombre: 4.3 vortec automatic 4wd..wheel drive. I recommend you measure the motor control voltage at the actuator connector a troubleshooting first step. Sat Feb 04, 2017 12:26 am . We finally found a replacement 4X4 actuator to put on the thing and it still will not come out of 4X4. Always maintained. I believe the part is like $217 with no core charge.

Paint has held up, same with interior.
So, since hes only reading 4 volts, would the problem be in the switches going to the actuator, or the front actuator itself. Since then the … Anyone have any suggestions as to what is wrong?make sure all the vacuum hoses are securely connected....suction is what engages the 4wd and if something comes loose then you have no suction..LOL!!

The transfer case actuator is controlled by the 4WD control unit. I have a 2001 Isuzu Rodeo V6 4wd. It seems to engage when it is warmer.
Your mechanic should be able to easily figure out if the problem is at the transfer case or the front axle. The mechanic said he could put 12 volts to the front actuator, but he couldn't find any information verifying what the voltage should be, so he was a little hesitant about trying it outta fear that 12 volts would fry something. A new actuator is about 200 bucks.I haven really taken it apart yet where is the SOTF Controlller located at? I am looking to see what I can expect to find once I take this part off. (Light flashes, does not go on full-time.) But about a year ago, it started taking longer to engage, minutes even.
found one they said was dirty but they got it to work. The stock set-up has the wheels engaged with the axles 100% of the time. I just don't want to take this apart going in blind and having a HUGE problem.
