SP3. Faced this problem twice. Upon turning it on at that point, the keyboard should be working. I've had my SP3 running Win 10 for about 2 months (couldn't wait for the SP4) and rarely disconnect the Type cover. I almost went to update my SP3's firmware but now I'm not so sure if I want to.mine got wet and i just bought another for 139$ turns out it is the tablet wish i read this before buying.I've tried many googled terms to figure out this problem. I have noticed in Device Manger that under Human Interface Devices that Wacom Device has a yellow triangle. Preface: I've tried many googled terms to figure out this problem. So you must 1) disable connected standby (google for registry address), 2) disable sleep and hibernate functionality (including lid-closure and power button). The only way to resolve the issue is to hope that the next Windows Update would reverse the problem. There's no quick way to identify which is the Surface Type Cover. Keyboard started working right away.I did this and got my HID keyboard Device to update into 'Surface Type Cover Filter Device' but the keypad and trackpad still dont work. My guess is that the Pro 4 cover was no longer deemed a new device since it was plugged in before previously.Microsoft store representatives said this is an increasingly common issue for both the Surface Pro 3 and 4. No battery sign lit up on screen and keyboard was not backlit.Plugged into the charger and turned it on. There's no quick way to identify which is the Surface Type Cover.
However, to prevent it from disappearing again, you must prevent the surface from going to sleep. I tried a different working type cover and it also did not work on this SP3. How to Fix Surface Pro 3 Type Cover not working. I performed driver updates as noted before in Firmware for each Keyboard until the Surface Type Cover was installed.That's it. You must only use restart or shutdown, which is super inconvenient but at least your keyboard will work.Edit: The solution worked very briefly. Not entirely sure how this is OK from MS's perspective.Agree. If I look at Wacom Device Properties I see Device status --- This device cannot start (Code10) STATUS_DIVICE_DATA_ERROR.
A light appears on the Fn keys when the keys are locked into function mode. Microsoft store tried with their Pro 4 cover and it did not do the trick any more. A few reboots helped, and I'm noticing that my SP3 doesn't sleep when I close it up.
