Edit: Also, being born in 1996, I grew up in the late 2000s through the 2010s. Gen X and Boomers were 20 years roughly, but the culture was a lot more stagnant due to slow speeds of trends spreading pre-internet. If you spent your childhood in the Web 1.0 era, you'd be Gen Y, and if you spent it in the Web 2.0 era, you'd be Gen Z.
I think that dates can fluctuate slightly by country or region. 92-98 is probably something of a blur in grouping with the people in it probably falling either way based more on personality, but I'd argue they still lean more to Gen Z than millennial.92-93 is as millennial as it gets lol. These people were also kids and teens during the housing crisis, and never really understood a world beforehand. On 8-11-2017 we added a section on Xennials. There are some that say it's around 2012...I strongly disagree. Gen X and Boomers were 20 years roughly, but the culture was a lot more stagnant due to slow speeds of trends spreading pre-internet. Gen Z born even 2005> will be a lot different from Gen Z born in the earlier years just because of the huge shift in technology and politics. Tech. Not sure what generation they'll be called. At that moment I was still in elementary school.I would say that, in my opinion, the best year to start Gen Z is 1995, with the Millennial/Gen Z cusp being from ~1993-1998.I could understand to an extent why you feel you can't relate to a '97 baby like me. But at the same time, I still think the cutoff should be 2009I'm going to go with 1994 as I see growing up on YouTube and 9/11 being big dividers between Y and Z.People born a bit earlier also could technically say they grew up on YouTube, but being 7 years old on 9/11 is the oldest I'd go to say someone is Gen Z imo, and if it were based on 9/11 alone, I'd say '96 is the start, but I think there's more to our generation than not remembering 9/11, which is why I'd start it in 1994.I'd have to go with 1995 or 1996 so, if we're going by 9/11. I'm already graduated from college and work a full-time job, and you're still in high school. It's mainly personal opinion of where Millennials end and Gen Z begins. They would be out of high school well before the turn of the decade.I view the cusp as being those born in the years 1996, 1997, and 1998. We can't completely discount differences, but it's best to examine the individual's life experiences and work from there. I think 2012 is a bit too late and 2009 is a better end date. I think 2012 is a bit too late and 2009 is a better end date. i'm class of 2018 myself and i've always felt like class of 2019 is almost interchangeable with my class while class of 2020 onwards very much feels like a new generationi think anyone whose grad class ends with teen is on the cusp, so classes 2013 through 2019, and 2020 is the first "solidly Z" class. The Web 1.0 era ended in Late 2004 when Motorola released the Razr and when broadband outsold dial up; Childhood is 3-12, with 5-10 being the core, as ages 3 & 4 are more in the Sesame Street & nursery rhymes age bracket, while 11 & 12 are preteens starting puberty and getting into teen culture. These are probably weak defenses, though.I prefer the notion that it's from 95-05 personally. I volunteer at a Sunday School and teach 10 year olds (born in 2008) and I find that their conversations pertain more to me, whereas it seems that people 3-4 years older than me seem to remember modems and a life without YouTube until their teens. Most market analysts (the people that matter, as generation definitions are important for marketing purposes) have it at 1995.Early should be around 1998. I've seen 1997 as the last year of Gen Y in some definitions AND the first year of Gen Z in other ones so they are cuspers. 92-98 is probably something of a blur in grouping with the people in it probably falling either way based more on personality, but I'd argue they still lean more to Gen Z … Gen Y (Millennial): 1978 - 1998. I remember in middle school (2013-2016) that EDM was quite popular. Up until freshman year, I did not hear about rap, Fornite, or rigged political elections so much. Children born in 1996 would’ve been too young to have attended school by 2000, but would’ve started school in 2000.Like Mid 2000s to roughly early 2020s, IDK I feel like everyone born in the 2010s should be the true Gen Zer's since they're the iPad babies. My roommate is 7 years older than me, and we still have quite a bit in common. The technological boom of the past few years makes me decide that.
