Warhammer, the Warhammer logo, GW, Games I have heard a lot about these games, but have not played a single game. But by today's standards, They feel old, they look old, the controls are wonky, the voice acting is goofy, they can be very confusing as to what the actual rules of the game are, they just are old games now. Shogun and Medieval I and II were amazing and so was Empire. Definitely start with Shogun 2. With one exception near a Napoleon Total War demo. Things like sanitation the way the food mechanic was reworked in this title make managing things on the campaign map a little tricker at first but once you get it this is a really great game.I would not say Rome 2 is very straight forward...especially it's building system.

And, is there any point in getting both Shogun II and FotS since the setting is extremely similar?I started with medieval 2 and still think it's the best total war game being made untill today. Are they really necessary? Personally I largely enjoy it because it represents the last of the "old school" games. There have been plenty of people here who didn't enjoy it for that reason, but loved the other TWs.I'll second the Shogun 2 vote. For strategy game beginners, I recommend the original Rome: Total War.
Also, should I start with Shogun II before moving onto FotS?The Japanese setting is not for everybody though. which Total War game is good for absolute beginners?
