The Bay Beach Road from Southerndown ends in a small carpark, free during the winter; at popular times a larger parking area is available just beyond on a grassy hillside, charged at £3.50 for stays longer than one hour. There is a lovely walk and lots of rock pools for kids to go crabbing in. And for those needing retail therapy, the McArthur Glen Designer Outlet is just 15 minutes away at Junction 36 of the M4. It was fun and it wasn’t that dangerous the dangerous parts had signs so you don’t go there.honestly I thought this beach was good but the rocks in it made it super dangerous I saw a 7 year old hit his head on it also the rock pool is so sad we are scaring the animlas. The food was prepared and presented very well - obviously an excellent chef - with a reasonable choice and range of dishes available. Paddlers, surfers, swimmers and canoeists, rockpoolers (at low tide) and fossil hunters love pretty Dunraven Bay (or Southerndown as it’s also known) in Wales. A P&D car park is located just above the beach, and has plenty of space for picnics. There are toilets ♿ here and usually an ice-cream van.
Nyth Bran is a delightful yet traditional stone cottage in Southerndown, just a few minutes walk from the beautiful sandy beach of Dunraven Bay, in the unspoilt Vale of Glamorgan. Good welcome, excellent food and fair pricing. The cliffs are part of the Welsh Jurassic coast, and it's possible to find fossils, and it can be enjoyable searching for leaves, insects, etc. Help .

A great day out and one that I do every time I am in Wales.The views over the Bristol channel to the coast of North Somerset, can be spectacular if the weather is fine, if it is cloudy, misty and cold, it's not so impressive. On the headland is the ruined Dunraven Castle. The owners are very warm and welcoming which was nice, and the place was really busy given it was a Tuesday lunchtime.
